There are so many dynamic factors to consider. Mainly, the volume of incoming links from related websites, quantity and quality of content, uniqueness, technical precision of source code, spelling, functional vs. broken hyperlinks, volume and consistency of searches and/or viewer traffic, time within website, page views, revisits, click-throughs, technical user-features, redundancy, advertising revenue yield, freshness, geography, relevance, language and other intrinsic characteristics.

One of the most basic factors to consider before you even start submitting to directories is to make sure every page is optimized perfectly with a significant quantity of naturally obtained backlinks that point to your site from other relevant sites. Quality, and naturally obtained Backlinks can have a significant impact on your Google rankings. Also, compare the number of Google Backlinks that your site has with your competitors. Instantly see if your site is at an advantage or disadvantage in the market. Moreover, don’t forget to use the right number of H1 and H2 tags, and put them in the right places, if you want to increase traffic.

Latent semantic indexing is another basic tactic that refers to how Google ranks your site according to other keywords you have listed on your site. A page’s description meta-tag gives Google and other search engines a summary of the page content. Be sure to make meta-tags the proper length. These HTML tags contain descriptive information about a webpage and do not appear when the webpage displays in a browser. However, be careful not to use too many key words or Google will think you are a spammer. Key words should also accurately describe the page’s content to attract relevant traffic. As well, unique title tags for each page should be both short and informative. If the title is too long, Google will show only a portion of it in the search result. Whereas a page’s title may be a few words or a phrase, a page’s description meta-tag might be a sentence or two, or even a short paragraph.

That means there are nearly 100 million websites out there. This fact brings us to the third instalment of Perfectory Web Design Services Search Engine Optimization: How to find a needle in a haystack and make your website stand out from the crowd. The fastest and easiest way to do this is with a magnet.

Our job, as website designers, is to influence search engines to find your digital needle in an enormous electronic haystack. Our magnet is the unique design of our templates that makes them “search engine friendly”. Some of the components that attract search engines include; design, menus, content management systems, images, videos, shopping carts, and other elements that are optimized for the purpose of search engine exposure. SEO also targets different kinds of searches, including image search, local search, video search and industry-specific vertical search. Being the object of these searches is what gives a web site its web presence, its value, and most importantly its traffic. Along with having one or more of our mesmeric templates, we also recommend that you promote your site to other relevant websites to increase the number of backlinks, or inbound links. You could acquire several of our websites and link them to each other, a quick and easy way to build credibility on the web. Definitely easier and cheaper than courting other sites to participate in your marketing efforts. Using this tactic also meets the SEOs need to confirm page relevancy by examining one-way links coming directly from these relevant websites. You can do this on your own (the subject of our future blog), or you can hire the expertise of an SEO specialist. This process of building links should not be confused with being listed on link farms, as the latter requires reciprocal return links, which often render the overall backlink advantage useless. This is due to oscillation, causing confusion over which is the vendor site and which is the promoting site. Another grave mistake for web marketing is a form of spamdexing called link farming. Link farming involves groups of web sites that all hyperlink to every other site in the group. In past years, link farming initially helped to increase PageRank. However, link farms are susceptible to manipulation by unscrupulous webmasters who join the service, receive inbound linkage, and then hide their outbound links or avoid posting any links on their sites at all. Alternative link farm products are available, particularly link-finding software that identify potential reciprocal link partners, send them template-based emails in exchange for links, to create directory-like link pages for web sites, in the hope of building their link popularity and PageRank. However, at the end of the day, search engines counter link farms by identifying specific attributes associated with link farm pages, and filter those pages from indexing and search results. The most popular search engine, Google, adapts a ranking algorithm to depend in part on a link-weighting scheme called PageRank. Rather than simply count all inbound links equally, the PageRank algorithm determines that some links may be more valuable than others are, and therefore assigns more weight to some. In some cases, entire domains are removed from the search engine indexes in order to prevent them from influencing search results.

We recommend that you stick to editing a website’s content, the HTML and the associated coding to increase its relevance to specific keywords and remove barriers to these search engine-indexing activities (another future blog subject). We still recommend that webmasters request relevant links to their sites (conduct a link campaign), but avoid participating in link farms. Google will penalize the search rankings of any site that participates in a link farm.

Perfectory Website TemplateWelcome to the second part of Perfectory Web Design’s three part series on Search Engine Optimization. In the first part, we explored the beginnings of search engines. Now we explain how search engines work. To be clear, a search engine is application software, like Google, Bing, and Ask. Its programming exists on a web server, a powerful computer that stores information about where web pages are located on the Internet. A browser is software on a PC, like Internet Explorer, Netscape, and Firefox, that enables PCs to access servers connected to the Internet, via your Internet service provider. Like human communication, there are rules about appearance, speaking, listening and understanding. These protocols of conversation represent different layers of contact that work together to achieve successful communication. Search Engine Optimization aims to perfect this communication.

Protocols also apply to a computer network, but are stricter and more complex. Network rules for communication must be followed meticulously if server-to-PC communication is to be successful. These different layers of sophistication include, how to connect physically, how hosts listen, which language to use, how to interrupt, how to terminate communications, and many others. These rules are grouped into what is known as a protocol suite. TCP/IP is the Internet protocol suite, named from two of the most important protocols in it: the Transmission Control Protocol (TCP) and the Internet Protocol (IP), which were the first two networking protocols defined in this standard. These protocols integrate to support actions based on decisions about incoming and outgoing information, like a series of logic gates in a flowchart that directs the path between the terms of a request and a search engine. Browsers analyse the content in the request and delegate the search engine to find and generate relevant web pages from the web server. Either the server responds with the content of the resource that meets the terms, and displays it on the screen, or it responds with an error message if it is unable to do so. The resource is typically a real file on the server’s secondary memory, but this is not necessarily the case and depends on the web server’s programming.

While the primary function of the Internet is to serve content, a full implementation of HTTP also facilitates receiving content from clients. A feature used for submitting web forms, and uploading files. Many generic web servers also support server-side scripting, like Apache HTTP Server and PHP. This means that the behaviour of the web server can be scripted in separate files, while the actual server software remains unchanged. This allows the creation of documents on the fly (dynamic content) as well as the returning of fixed documents (static content). The former is primarily used for retrieving and/or modifying information in databases. The latter is, however, typically much faster and easily cached.
