Society and CultureEarlier this week we told you that college-age kids are very attached to social media, but we want you to know that they are not the only ones. Their parents and grandparents are also really getting into sites like Facebook as well.

Not too long ago we overheard a woman who was in her 50s telling someone proudly that she knew how to use Facebook and was not one of those older people who was clueless about it. She went on to say that she got her sisters and other family members to join too.

It has been reported that the greatest growth on Facebook has come from people who are 35 to 49 years old. Now these older users might not be quite as addicted to Facebook as their younger counterparts are, but they are still a captive audience. Plus, unlike younger users who may want to stick to social media sites, older users may be more willing to follow a link back to a website. Although in the grand scheme of things, websites have not been around long at all, they do seem to be a more “established” medium that a social networking site. Older users of social media want to see that an organization has a web presence that extends beyond Facebook or Twitter.

So when the social media users get to your website, what will they see? Established does not have to mean outdated. In fact, you probably do not want a website that seems flat or just has plain text. Images help to draw people in. At Perfectory we offer more than 20,000 expertly crafted and beautifully designed website templates.
