I have the good fortune of belonging to a family that owns cottages in Northern Ontario’s beautiful Muskokas. I make it a point to visit as often as I can, at least a couple of weekends each season. This summer, while driving the dirt road, well into the bush, I encountered an unexpected but promising group of young entrepreneurs, selling lemonade for fifty cents a glass. It was cute, but not very practical from a business perspective, particularly in such an out-of-the-way location. They might as well have been selling electricity on the moon. Thankfully, I had a bit of change, and made a donation because I felt proud of their effort, and sympathetic to their circumstances.
It reminded me of working on a website awards team a few years back, and of the many second-rate websites, I had to review. Like these kids, and their out-of-the-way location, mediocre websites do not get much traffic either.
In this first instalment of Perfectory Web Design Services Website Analytics, we introduce one of the most important quantitative characteristics of a successful website – the number of site visitors. All website visits break down into the number of page views and the number of unique visitors. Beyond that, we make a distinction between length and depth of visit to discover the trends that visitors generate from their experience with a site. With this basic knowledge, we make changes to the site that optimizes traffic flow depending on the site’s goals and objectives. After all, you cannot just put up a few pages of information and expect to draw crowds, never mind paying crowds, unless, of course, you are a crafty blogger, but we cannot all be crafty bloggers. This is why Website Analytics is a necessary function for publishers and designers to be certain they do not become stranded on some dirt road, in the middle of nowhere, but rather, are at the hub of activity, which is the ultimate purpose of every website.
Perfectory Web Design Services are experts, devoted to search engine optimization, website traffic maximization, while minimizing cost and time. We design Website Templates specifically to meet the needs of e-consumers. In this fast-paced World Wide Web, we do not want to waste our time and energy worrying about how effective our sites are. There is a lot more information pertaining to website traffic that you can use to grow your business, and increase site traffic. In our second instalment, we will discuss the differences between logfile analysis and page tagging. See you on Friday!
